Stagette-White Water Rafting

This past Canada Day long weekend I threw my bestest friend her Stagette. Being a unique girl she wanted a unique celebration, so we decided on a river rafting adventure! Now it may not have been a stereotypical bachelorette bash but I did learn one thing…either way the ladies still expect strippers! Asking the group of guys on the bus ride for their dancing (gyrating) skills and short striptease from our guide (top off only) started our float down the river.

We spent about 2 1/2 hours on the water and ended the trip with a broke down bus, a flipped raft (full of our strippers) and lastly a delicious bbq!

Made for a BBQ where we served real mini burgers; these just went with the theme!

Pie Fries

Whenever I receive my Food Network Magazine I immediately look for that one recipe that I will add to my repertoire. These Pie Fries don’t even need to come with a recipe; if you have frozen pie crust in the freezer just thaw it, slice it, sprinkle it (cinnamon & sugar) and bake at 375 for 15 minutes. Ta da!

Handmade tea-bag tags

I’m having a great time piecing together all my shower ideas. Seeing what will work and skipping any ideas that won’t. One idea that I came across (thanks to Martha) is replacing the tea-bag tags with something more suitable…what says love and marriage more than hearts? It’s a simple process with high impact. The hearts are made of foam and come with a peel and stick backing. The pack comes with 3 different sizes and colors to vary the look. You can play around with playful sayings in glittery pen or just simply label with the type of tea!

Wheat-free Pizza

Good Pizza...

The last time I wanted to start off the week on a good note I made pizza! (seen here) Since this past weekend was not that great I wanted to make sure as of Monday I would shake off the bad vibes and create some happiness! I was inspired to make a Wheat-Free Vegan pizza by a friend who has been experimenting with a wheat-free diet. To save time I doubled the recipe and baked the crusts off and froze them for easy assembly later on. You can make 2 full pizzas or 4 personal sized out of a doubled recipe. Having them ready to go in the freezer will deter you from ordering out when you have a craving and help you stick to a healthier wheat-free option. Good pizza = great week!

Ham & Egg Cups

Eggs in ham cuplets...cute

Since breakfast isn’t my favorite meal of the day I’ve been trying to find simple recipes that are quick to make before work and will look great at a brunch too! This is idea is thanks to the girls at fromthelittleyellowkitchen and I think are a perfect sequel to my Bacon & Eggs in toast cups.
Now I’m ready for the rest of the day; going to make some homemade pizza dough, Thai chili chicken and do some more shower planning! Never again will I underestimate a good breakfast.

Earl Grey Tea Cookies

To continue on with my wedding shower planning I tried out a cookie recipe that might just make the menu. These Earl Grey Tea Cookies are more of an adult cookie with a smokey flavor of ground earl grey tea and a hint of citrus. Since I am planning a tea party luncheon for the shower these of course make perfect sense! When I opened the oven after they were done baking there was no way I could miss the aroma of tea and I think they may have just made the menu!

Wedding Planning: Shower Theme

With my best friends wedding coming up this September and the excitement of being the Maid of Honor I’ve already started my planning. The shower is going to be a tea party theme; I can’t wait to start the baking of all the sweet treats and plan the menu for the luncheon. Throughout my planning I’ll share everything with you along the way…invitations, guests gifts, food and decor. Think of the picture above as my inspiration board, hopefully it will turn out as beautiful as it is in my head!

Ice-Cream Sandwiches

Homemade ice-cream sandwiches have been on my to do list for awhile now. When I read the recipe and realized how easy they were I just needed to carve out time to get them baked off. The best thing is you can assemble them as needed so there isn’t much work after the cookies are out of the oven. This way you can test out different flavours of ice-cream as you go!

Since I made these on my Dad’s Birthday I’m dedicating these to him. Happy Birthday DAD!!!

Roast Chicken

Dinner for my Valentine

I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day! I had two great Valentine’s Days! We did two dinners, one each, Dinner Party Wars style. The first was mine and I made a classic roast chicken with stuffing and a side of lemon butter green beans. Each dish is easy even for the non-cook and it always impresses.

The next dinner I hate to say it but I was completely shown up…the meal I was treated to was definitely the winner and could call itself Dinner Party Wars Champion. Filet Mignon with garlic prawns, and asparagus with prosciutto and orange mayo. I got a front row seat to watch my martinis being shaken and found a new favorite drink! My contribution to the evening was a strawberry mousse cake that I brought which happened to fall over in the box and lost its visual appeal.

So I will admit that I lost (even though I don’t want to) but I will ready for the next round!

Chicken/Turkey Stuffing

3 cups of bread cubes
1/2 a white onion, chopped
1 tbsp butter
1 celery stalk, chopped
boiling water
poultry seasoning

On medium heat melt butter in a pan and add chopped celery and onion. Cook for about 5 minutes, until softened. Place bread cubes in a boil and add boiling water just to soften. Make sure the water is absorbed by the bread. Add your sautéed onions and celery and mix. Add poultry seasoning to taste. You can either stuff the bird or bake it in a dish to heat through. Enjoy!!
