City Escape

October 30, 2010

Simple.

Tomorrow I will be escaping the city and heading home to be around family. I am looking forward to having the time to dedicate to my blog and unleashing all the creative projects that are in my head. Lots of baking, photographing and hopefully the completion of a DIY ribbon necklace I have been working on. Stay tuned!

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

October 23, 2010

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

Since Thanksgiving I’ve been craving something with pumpkin, just not in pie form. Now pumpkin and cream cheese smushed between two chocolate cookies seems like a perfect way to satisfy my craving. These Pumpkin Whoopie Pies are delicious and surprisingly not too sweet at all! I did learn one thing though while baking and assembling these…I need a bigger kitchen! While balancing bowls, mixers, cooling racks and piping bags I almost had a few close calls. It was all worth it though when they came out light and fluffy and more than easy to assemble. These would be a great dessert to bring to a Halloween party or to freeze and eat through the holidays.

Twelve minutes in the oven...so quick!

Week of Happiness 3

October 17, 2010

Happiness for me this week:

2.

Bacon & Eggs in Toast cups

This recipe was a great variation on the classic brunch ingredients, it was so good I wish I had made more! It was definitely a surprise hit.

1.

New cute cupcake liners

These cupcake liners give me inspiration and makes me think; “what am I going to bake inside them?” The black liners are going to be perfect for a Halloween recipe…

Better start thinking of cupcake recipes. 175 liners to fill!

In the Trenches…

October 12, 2010

Zara $129
Tommy Hilfiger $160
Banana Republic $198

I have come to the realization that I can no longer leave the apartment in just a sweater. I know we all want to hold on to summer but it’s October already! I need a transition jacket that is in between a sweater and a winter coat…the trench. The trench is fancy enough to wear over a dress and will dress up a leggings and boots day too. Just need to decide which one to get?

Thanksgiving Menu

October 7, 2010

Thanksgiving is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated holidays and it’s not just because turkey dinner is my favortie meal. It’s because we have started a tradition to all get together for a homemade dinner. Since this is our third annual Thanksgiving dinner we have opted to change-up the menu from prior years. We will of course have the staples like stuffing, brussels sprouts (this year with bacon) and bbq’d turkey but we have chosen a few different dishes to challenge ourselves with. I think we have narrowed it down to a meal that is going to please everyone and garner the perfect amount of praise!

Banana Cupcakes

October 3, 2010

Ever since the beginning of the summer I have begun a new obsession with cupcakes. Before then I never knew that there were so many options when baking cupcakes. I started out by creating some themed cupcakes that you can find here, now I’m into the easier, whimsical, and gorgeous looking little guys. A plate of well decorated cupcakes gets a way better reaction from the crowd than an iced up cake; plus we all know they’re more fun to eat too! (or three). Tonight I made these Banana Cupcakes with honey-cinnamon icing…The taste of home-baked banana bread, in a portable treat!

One dozen cupcakes to come...

30 minute wait...good thing there is a Starbucks close by!

Waiting to be iced
